Let’s Ride: Why the Bloemfontein Vehicle Auction Should Be on Your Radar This Week

By Auction Finance Insider

For most South Africans shopping for a car, auctions are still uncharted territory. But ask anyone who's been to an Aucor Bloemfontein vehicle sale and they'll tell you: it’s one of the best-kept secrets in the car-buying world. Whether you're after a bargain, hunting for something special, or just want more value for your money—this auction might just surprise you.

Lets Ride. Come & bid on our MFC & Standard Bank Vehicle Auction!

What’s Under the Hammer?

This Thursday, 05 June at 10:30, Aucor Bloemfontein is hosting a Multi-Bank Vehicle Auction, with vehicles from both MFC and Standard Bank hitting the block.

We spoke with auction manager Jaques van der Linde, who gave us a sneak peek into what buyers can expect—and it’s anything but boring. “This auction is dominated by super SUVs and small hatchbacks,” he says. “We're talking about 2024 VW Tiguans, T-Crosses, Polos, and Ford Territories, all with crazy low mileage.”

And it's not just new-gen stock. For those looking at the sweet spot of value and affordability, there’s plenty of 2-4 year-old Kia Seltos and Hyundai Venues, all with under 80,000km. The variety is rich too: older Polos, Nissan workhorses, and even a few surprises—like an eye-catching spread of BMWs, ranging from a slick 118i to a classic 335i.

How Much Should You Expect to Spend?

Prices vary—but deals are real.

While the brand-new SUVs may be tough to predict (this is Bloem’s first-ever Tiguan R-Line and Territory EcoBoost going under the hammer), Jaques says the bulk of auction prices traditionally sit between R70,000 and R180,000. The full spread can range from as low as R30,000 to over R500,000, depending on the make and condition.

So whether you’re shopping for a student runaround, upgrading your family wheels, or scouting a second car, there’s a lane for every budget.

First-Time Auction Buyer? Read This.

Jaques says Bloem auctions attract a steady stream of first-time buyers, many drawn in by the opportunity to get more car for less money. But don’t go in blind. His advice?

“Only bid on a vehicle that you’ve inspected. And I’ll say it again—only bid on a vehicle you’ve inspected!”

Take advantage of the viewing days on Tuesday, 03 June and Wednesday, 04 June (from 08:00 to 17:00 at 1 Kruger Avenue, Estoire). Know your budget, ask about VAT and buyer’s commission, and chat to Celeste from Auction Finance for help on pre-approvals or understanding total costs.

What Makes Bloem Stand Out?

Beyond the great cars, the Bloemfontein auction has built a reputation for its welcoming vibe and efficient layout. “Lekker people. Friendly. Helpful,” Jaques sums it up. “We have credible stock, low foot traffic compared to the big metros, and yes—you get a free cappuccino while you browse.”

Sometimes, the little things really do count.

Webcast Bidding: Convenient, But Be Prepared

Can’t make it in person? Pre-live online bidding opens Wednesday, 4 June at 14:00, and live webcast bidding follows on auction day.

If you’re bidding remotely, Jaques urges buyers to register early, get FICA documents in order, and double-check your internet setup.

“Bandwidth, speed, software—none of that’s under our control,” he says. “If you’re worried, use the Max Bid function so you don’t miss out.”

The Power of Pre-Approved Finance

Here's what many auction-goers still don’t realise: you don’t need to show up with a bag of cash. With Auction Finance, pre-approved bank finance is a simple, stress-free process.

“Celeste and her team don’t just crunch numbers,” Jaques says. “They explain the auction process, help you understand what you can afford, and make sure you’re bidding with confidence. That means fewer post-auction cancellations and happier buyers driving off in a great deal.”

Final Word: This Is Your Sign

If you’ve never considered buying a car at auction, now’s the time to change that. With high-quality, bank-approved stock, flexible finance options, and a welcoming environment, Aucor Bloemfontein delivers real value—and maybe even your next vehicle.

Ferrari Dreams, Financed.

A Rare 458 Spider Hits the Auction Block – And You Don’t Need Cash to Own It.

The Ferrari 458 Spider has long held the keys to the hearts of collectors, enthusiasts, and speed-dreamers alike. With its sculpted lines, naturally aspirated V8 engine, and a sound that stirs the soul, the Spider is one of those rare machines that looks just as exhilarating as it feels behind the wheel.

But here’s the catch: most of these headline-making cars at auction have traditionally belonged to the cash buyers’ club — until now.

2012 FERRARI 458 SPIDER (ODO : 46570)

A Bit of 458 Spider History: More Than a Convertible

Unveiled in 2011, the Ferrari 458 Spider wasn’t just a drop-top version of the already legendary 458 Italia — it was the first mid-engined Ferrari with a retractable hardtop, offering both the performance of a coupe and the freedom of a spider.

Its 4.5L V8 engine produces 562 hp, revving up to an astonishing 9,000 RPM — a naturally aspirated masterpiece before Ferrari moved into turbocharged territory.

With fewer and fewer naturally aspirated Ferraris being produced, the 458 Spider has already been hailed by many enthusiasts as a “future classic” — and this makes owning one today not just thrilling, but an increasingly smart investment.

Think That Used Car Is Yours? The Bank Might Disagree…

In a recent TopAuto article, a Johannesburg man faced the shocking repossession of his Maserati due to a fraudulent change of ownership by a previous owner. Despite purchasing the vehicle from a dealer and conducting due diligence, he discovered that the car's clearance letter had been forged, leading the bank to reclaim the vehicle and demand an outstanding balance of R4 million.

This incident underscores the importance of purchasing vehicles through legitimate and transparent channels. Buying from private sellers or unverified dealers can expose you to significant risks, including repossession due to undisclosed financial obligations.

Why Choose Verified Bank Auctions?

  • Transparency: Bank auctions provide clear ownership histories and settlement statuses, ensuring you're not inheriting someone else's debt.

  • Legitimacy: Vehicles sold through bank auctions have been repossessed due to genuine defaults, not fraudulent activities.

Whether you're a car fanatic, savvy investor, or just on the hunt for a new ride at an unbeatable price — Aucor Bloemfontein’s MFC & Standard Bank Vehicle Auction is where the action is happening this Thursday, 8 May.

I spoke with Jacques van der Linde, auction specialist at Aucor Bloemfontein, to get the inside scoop on why this is shaping up to be one of the most exciting auctions of the year — and why you’ll want to be first in line.

🚗 120 Vehicles. Every Brand. Every Budget.

“This is one of the most diverse catalogues we’ve had,” Jacques tells me. “We’ve got almost 120 units going under the hammer — hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, bakkies — all the big brands plus some of the trendier newer players.”

Think Toyota, Ford, VW, BMW, Hyundai… even Cherry Tiggos and GWM SUVs.

💎 Hot Picks from the Auction Floor

So what’s Jacques most excited about?

“There’s a new-gen Ford Territory, a Ford Mustang 5.0 and even a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG up for grabs. But I’m also loving the SUV range — Fortuners, Cherry Tiggos… the selection is unreal.”

🧾 Vehicle Condition & Mileage? Covered.

From almost-new to trusty workhorses, this auction has a vehicle for every stage of life.

“You’ll see 2023 and 2024 models with under 10,000 km,” Jacques explains. “But also well-kept 5–10-year-old vehicles with varied mileage. There's truly something for every taste and every pocket.”

🔐 Bank-Owned Vehicles = Quality You Can Trust

All vehicles in this auction come from the banks — specifically MFC and Standard Bank.

“No dodgy histories here,” Jacques says. “Every car is part of a credible liquidation, repossession, or ex-fleet portfolio. Aucor Bloem is the place for serious buyers looking for reliable stock.”

🔍 Don’t Skip the Viewing Days

Before auction day, take the time to view the vehicles in person:

📅 Viewing Dates:
• Tuesday, 6 May | 08:00–17:00
• Wednesday, 7 May | 08:00–17:00
📍 1 Kruger Ave, Estoire, Bloemfontein

“Come inspect the vehicles and speak to our Auction Finance team for pre-approval advice,” Jacques advises. “It gives you buying power and peace of mind.”

📲 Bidding Made Easy – Even from Your Couch

Can’t make it in person? No problem.

“Just download the AucorLive App,” Jacques says. “We have over 100,000 registered bidders on our system. It’s smooth, secure, and growing every month.”
